The mothers shall give suck to their offspring
for two whole years, if the father
desires to complete the term. But he shall bear the cost of their food and
clothing on equitable terms. No soul shall have a burden laid on it greater
than it can bear. No mother shall be Treated unfairly on account of her child.
Nor father on account of his child, an
heir shall be chargeable in the same way. If they both decide on weaning, by
mutual consent, and after due consultation, there is no blame on them. If ye
decide on a foster-mother for your offspring, there is no blame on you,
provided ye pay (the mother) what ye offered, on equitable terms. But fear
Allah and know that Allah sees well what ye do.

(46) Gardens of perpetual

at the watering (place) in Madyan, he found there a group of men watering
(their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back
(their flocks). He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said:
"We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take back (their
flocks): And our father is a very old
man."

(75) Afterwards one of the
(damsels) came (back) to him, walking bashfully. She said: "My father invites thee that he may reward thee for

of) their fathers: that is juster in the

but evident magic!"

(100) Thou wilt not find
any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah
and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers
or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written
Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He
will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for
ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the
Party of Allah. Truly it is the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity.

(101) There is for you an
excellent example (to follow) in Abraham and those with him, when they said to
their people: "We are clear of you and of whatever ye worship besides
Allah. we have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity
and hatred for ever,- unless ye believe in Allah and Him alone": But not
when Abraham said to his father: "I
will pray for forgiveness for thee, though I have no power (to get) aught on
thy behalf from Allah." (They prayed): "Our Lord! in Thee do we
trust, and to Thee do we turn in repentance: to Thee is (our) Final Goal.

(102) Let the women live
(in 'iddat) in the same style as ye live, according to your means: Annoy them
not, so as to restrict them. And if they carry (life in their wombs), then
spend (your substance) on them until they deliver their burden: and if they
suckle your (offspring), give them their recompense: and take mutual counsel
together, according to what is just and reasonable. And if ye find yourselves
in difficulties, let another woman suckle (the child) on the (father's) behalf.
